The grant is to support the expansion of the SummerWorks Program, a vital initiative that aims to empower local youth and bridge the gap between education and the workforce.

In it’s inaugural year, the SummerWorks Program was pivotal for young individuals seeking meaningful employment opportunities. With the support of the Caesars Foundation Floyd County, Southern Indiana Works is now equipped to enhance the program's impact, providing even more young people with valuable skills and experiences that will set the foundation for their future careers.

The Caesars Foundation Floyd County has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to fostering positive change in the community. By directing funds toward initiatives like the SummerWorks Program, the foundation actively contributes to building a skilled and motivated local workforce. This not only benefits the individuals involved but also strengthens the overall economic landscape of Southern Indiana.

The newly acquired grant will enable Southern Indiana Works to expand the reach of the SummerWorks Program, reaching more youth in the region. By creating additional employment opportunities, the program helps participants develop essential workplace skills, gain real-world experience, and build a professional network that will prove invaluable in their future endeavors.

The SummerWorks Program, with its emphasis on hands-on learning and practical skills development, acts as a bridge between education and the workforce. Through workshops and actual job placements, participants gain insights into various industries, fostering a better understanding of their career interests and goals.

Beginning this year, SIW committed to "Quarterly Outreach" projects. This winter season we decided on Toys for Tots . This is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserves who distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. And this year marks the 75th anniversary! Each person participated by bringing in one to three new, unwrapped toys . Children who receive toys are of all ages and vary from young to pre-teen which gives participants a wide range of toy options. Toys For Tots suggests shopping like you would for a child you know and considering what they might like.
