Who We Are

Southern Indiana Works is a business-led collaborative and non-profit that develops and connects talent to regional businesses. We serve as the Local Workforce Development Board for Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Crawford, Scott, and Washington counties in Indiana.

SIW convenes, facilitates, and organizes the regional talent development system by serving as an intermediary linking regional business and industry to talent. We strengthen our community by serving as an economic development resource to our business partners for talent attraction, retention and expansion. SIW provides career, training, and business services to enhance the skills of individual jobseekers to meet the current and future demand of business. We accomplish this by designing, coordinating, and implementing innovative regional workforce initiatives and programs.

What We Do

We are the leader and convener of the talent development system in Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Crawford, Scott, and Washington counties.

We bridge the relationships of business and industry with the workforce.

We provide business resources to attract, train, and retain talent through a connection with jobseekers at the American Job Center – WorkOne Southern Indiana. These career and training services equip jobseekers to increase economic mobility, and help businesses grow and prosper equitably by having the talent they need to succeed.

SIW staff and partners can help with identifying the talent that is needed now, as well as researching the future skills needed to maintain a viable and thriving economy for employers and jobseekers. Being proactive and going beyond training for our current needs will help us to prepare children and young adults for the future world of work.

As a community-based, non-profit, we believe in empowering individuals with the dignity of work, and support equity and inclusion in the workforce. We are dedicated to building programs that meet the needs of people and our communities.

Our services deliver customized solutions and unique initiatives that redefine needs of the current and future workforce, and provide the resources and training opportunities to achieve those goals. We provide services in partnership with local economic development organizations, education and state agencies such as Indiana Department of Workforce Development, Commission for Higher Education, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Veterans Administration.

OUR PRIORITIES

Talent Development

To increase in-demand skills, credentialing, and/or degree attainment of our customers that meet the current and future needs of industries. Provide a path for family-sustaining employment and career opportunities.
Economic Development

Through support of and connectivity with economic development organizations and targeted business & industry sector partnerships, we add value to area business attraction, expansion, and retention. We contribute to solutions that generate community development through economic prosperity.
Next-Gen Talent

Through a career pathways approach, we assist young adults in attainment of a High School diploma or equivalent, post-secondary education or training, career exploration and education, work-based learning, and other skills development to prepare the next generation of talent.
Customer-Centric

To operate a customer-focused, market responsive, high-performing talent development system. SIW oversees and operates our local area’s American Job Center – WorkOne Southern Indiana delivering career and training services. SIW provides business services to data driven targeted sectors though a customized solutions-based design.
